The Reality of the Market
Sales development is where commercial careers are built or broken early. Done badly, it is a volume exercise — dial more, email more, follow up more — with no understanding of why any of it works. Done well, it is a precision discipline: understanding the market deeply enough to identify who is most likely to have the problem you solve, reaching them in a way that demonstrates you understand their situation, and qualifying quickly enough that neither side wastes time.
The SDR who treats it as a volume game learns nothing. The SDR who treats it as a research and communication discipline learns more about markets, buyers, and commercial psychology in six months than most people learn in three years.
AI has made this distinction more important, not less. Everyone now has access to tools that can generate outreach at scale. The people who win are the ones who use those tools to go deeper on individual prospects — not broader across more of them.
What Winvesta Offers
Before anything else — this is not that kind of sales job.
Every Indian business that exports services — every software firm, consultancy, agency, or freelancer receiving payments from a foreign client — is losing money today. Not because of any mistake on their part, but because the traditional banking system charges them for the privilege of receiving what they earned. The fees are high, the settlement is slow, and the process is opaque. Most of these businesses accept it because they do not know there is a better option.
Winvesta is that better option. Our Global Currency Account lets Indian exporters receive foreign currency payments faster, at a fraction of the cost, with full transparency. When someone becomes a client, they do not just get a product — they stop losing money they were losing without realising it.
That context changes the nature of sales development here. You are not trying to manufacture interest in something people do not need. You are prospecting into a market where the problem is real, widespread, and currently unsolved for most of the people in it. The job is to find them, qualify them, and hand them a conversation they are genuinely glad to have.
The Sales Development Intern is the engine of that process. You will own the top of the funnel — the research, the outreach, the qualification, and the handoff to a conversation that can close.
You will use Claude as a daily work partner throughout — to research accounts, draft and iterate on sequences, prepare for calls, and build the institutional knowledge about what types of prospects convert and why.
The last month of your internship is an explicit adjudication period for a full-time offer. Both sides know this from Day 1.

The Attitude We Need
We look for academic strength first — ideally 90% or above in both 10th and 12th. Sales development done well requires systematic thinking — building a hypothesis about who is likely to have the problem, testing it, learning from what the data says, and adjusting. That is a rigorous process, and the academic record is one of the earliest signals of whether the underlying capacity for that kind of disciplined iteration is present.
We also look for resilience with a learning orientation. Sales development involves rejection, and the right response to rejection is not indifference — it is curiosity. Why did that not work? What would have worked better? The intern who asks those questions after every conversation compounds rapidly. The one who moves on without asking them does not.
What we do not specify is a degree stream. Sales development ability comes from many backgrounds. What is not negotiable is a genuine affinity for technology and an AI-native way of working. You use tools as a matter of course. You have been using Claude as part of your actual daily work — not as something you have tried a few times.
We also look for warmth and precision together. The opening message that earns a response is both human and specific. Getting to that combination takes genuine effort. The person who finds that challenge interesting — who wants to understand what made one message land and another disappear — is exactly who we are looking for.
If you are the right person for this role, the bar we have described will feel like a reasonable expectation, not an obstacle.
The Role
Account research — building a detailed picture of target accounts before any outreach is sent. Company profile, likely payment volumes, current banking behaviour, decision-maker identification. Claude accelerates this significantly. Your judgment decides what is signal and what is noise.
Outreach sequencing — building and executing multi-touch outreach sequences that are specific enough to earn a response and honest enough to qualify accurately. Not templates. Sequences built around real research.
Qualification — once a conversation starts, quickly establishing whether there is a real opportunity. The quality of the questions you ask in the first two minutes of a call determines whether the next twenty minutes are worth having.
Handoff — when a prospect is qualified and ready to move forward, preparing a complete and accurate picture of what you know about them so the conversation that follows is not starting from scratch.
Pipeline tracking — maintaining accurate records of where every prospect is, what has been tried, and what the next step is. A pipeline with bad data is not a pipeline — it is a false sense of progress.
Learning loop — after every outreach sequence, every call, every qualified or disqualified prospect, asking what worked, what did not, and what to adjust. Then adjusting. The Sales Development Intern who does this will be materially better at the role in month three than they were in month one. That compounding is what we are looking for.
Proof of Work
We are not looking for a polished CV. We are looking for evidence that you have already started doing this kind of work.
If you have built and executed an outreach sequence — show us what it looked like, how many people you reached, and what the response rate was. If you have used Claude to research a prospect or build a sequence, show us the output and tell us specifically what you changed from what it produced. If you have qualified or disqualified a prospect in a conversation — tell us how you did it and what you learned.
Proof of work does not have to be from a formal role. It has to be real.
Qualifications
What we require:

<li>Comfortable initiating conversations in writing and by phone with people you have never met</li>
<li>Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from any degree programme</li>
