The Role
We are looking for a Principal AI Engineer to lead the design and development of AI-native products across our platform.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys owning the full product lifecycle. You will design AI workflows, build scalable backend services, develop modern web applications, and operate production systems used by enterprise customers.
You will work across AI, backend, frontend, cloud infrastructure, and product engineering to deliver high-impact capabilities that define the future of patent intelligence.

Responsibilities AI Engineering
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Design, build, and deploy production LLM applications and AI workflows.
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Develop retrieval, reasoning, and agent-based systems for complex patent use cases.
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Improve model quality through prompt engineering, evaluation, testing, and continuous iteration.
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Optimize AI performance, latency, scalability, and cost.

Backend Engineering
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Design and develop scalable APIs, services, and data pipelines.
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Build and maintain systems that process and search large patent datasets.

Frontend Engineering

Technical Leadership

Minimum Qualifications
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 3+ years building production AI or LLM-powered applications.
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Proven experience delivering complex software products from design through production.
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Strong experience building scalable distributed systems and cloud-native applications.
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), prompt engineering, and LLM evaluation.
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Strong understanding of modern software architecture, APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Excellent problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications
·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Experience with patent, legal, or enterprise knowledge management systems.
