Role: Technical Program Manager – Firmware
Location: Gurgaon Work Model: 5 Days Work from Office Experience: 4-10+ Years
Key Responsibilities
Firmware Development &amp; Embedded Systems
<ul>
<li>
Design, develop, debug, and maintain firmware for IoT and embedded devices.
</li>
<li>
Build and optimize firmware for microcontroller-based systems (STM32, ESP32, or similar).
</li>
<li>
Troubleshoot hardware-firmware interaction issues involving sensors, power management, connectivity, and embedded peripherals.
</li>
<li>
Support firmware flashing, testing, validation, and release processes.
</li>
</ul>
IoT &amp; Telematics Integration
<ul>
<li>
Own end-to-end integration of IoT devices with backend systems.
</li>
<li>
Implement and manage communication protocols such as MQTT, CAN, UART, BLE, GSM/GPRS, and GPS.
</li>
<li>
Debug connectivity issues, OTA firmware updates, and field-deployed device failures.
</li>
<li>
Collaborate with hardware and backend teams to ensure reliable telemetry solutions.
</li>
</ul>
Battery Management &amp; Vehicle Systems
<ul>
<li>
Work on Battery Management System (BMS) firmware and battery telemetry solutions.
</li>
<li>
Develop and maintain custom CAN bus protocol implementations.
</li>
<li>
Support battery diagnostics, safety monitoring, and vehicle tracking features.
</li>
<li>
Improve asset monitoring and device reliability across deployed systems.
</li>
</ul>
Product &amp; Cross-Functional Collaboration
<ul>
<li>
Translate business and operational requirements into scalable firmware solutions.
</li>
<li>
Partner with product, hardware, backend, and operations teams throughout the product lifecycle.
</li>
<li>
Support technical decision-making for embedded and telematics products.
</li>
<li>
Mentor team members on firmware and embedded systems best practices.
</li>
</ul>
Testing, Documentation &amp; Process Improvement
<ul>
<li>
Establish firmware testing, QA, and monitoring processes.
</li>
<li>
Create technical documentation, integration guides, and troubleshooting playbooks.
</li>
<li>
Identify opportunities to improve system performance and reduce dependency on external vendors.
</li>
<li>
Drive continuous improvement in firmware quality and deployment reliability.
</li>
</ul>
Must-Have Requirements
<ul>
<li>
5–10+ years of hands-on experience in Firmware or Embedded Systems development.
</li>
<li>
Strong expertise in Embedded C/C++ and microcontroller programming (STM32, ESP32, or similar).
</li>
<li>
Experience working with IoT hardware, telematics, or connected devices.
</li>
<li>
Hands-on knowledge of CAN Bus, MQTT, UART, BLE, GSM/GPRS, and GPS communication protocols.
</li>
<li>
Experience with Battery Management Systems (BMS) and custom CAN protocol development.
</li>
<li>
Strong debugging skills across hardware, firmware, sensors, power systems, and connectivity.
</li>
<li>
Experience with OTA firmware updates, device provisioning, and fleet-scale device management.
</li>
<li>
Ability to independently solve complex embedded and IoT-related technical challenges.
</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications
<ul>
<li>
Experience in EV, Mobility, Fleet Management, IoT, Automotive, or Connected Device companies.
</li>
<li>
Exposure to replacing third-party IoT or telematics solutions with in-house platforms.
</li>
<li>
Understanding of cloud-based telemetry platforms, device management, and data pipelines.
</li>
<li>
Prior experience mentoring engineering teams or leading embedded product initiatives.
</li>
<li>
Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
</li>
